LandMate Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-24

LandMate is an Android field mapping application provided by BMGIS. It lets you save points, measure routes and areas, take annotated photos, and import or export field data. Contact: bmgis.my@gmail.com.

Location and field data

LandMate requests location permission for GPS marking, navigation, accuracy measurements, and route recording. You may decline permission or allow approximate location; features needing precise GPS may then be unavailable or less accurate.

Route recording starts when you choose to record. It can continue while the screen is off or another app is open, using a foreground location service and an ongoing notification. Stop recording in the app or through its notification. The app does not request Android's background-location permission.

Saved geometry, names, notes, tags, coordinates, accuracy, elevations, timestamps, and preferences are stored in app storage. Photos may contain coordinates and other annotations you select. Imports and exports use files or destinations you choose. When you share a file or photo, the receiving app or recipient handles that copy independently.

Maps, addresses, and terrain

Google Maps provides the map. Map and geocoding services receive requests needed to display map areas or find addresses. Reverse geocoding can send a saved point's coordinates to the device's geocoding provider or, as a fallback, OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. Address lookup may occur when you open a saved item's details or generate photo annotations.

Terrain elevation is derived from NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) 1 Arc-Second data, at approximately 30-metre resolution. LandMate downloads these elevation tiles from bmgis.dev. Elevation is intended for general mapping and reference, not survey-grade measurements. Requests identify a geographic tile, revealing the approximate area being requested. Network services also receive connection information such as your IP address and may retain service logs according to their own practices. LandMate does not upload the complete field-data database to a dedicated LandMate synchronization service.

Resolving a shared Google Maps short link contacts the link service to obtain its destination.

Advertising and privacy choices

Google AdMob supplies advertisements. Depending on your privacy choices and the service configuration, its SDK may process advertising/device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, ad interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention. LandMate waits for Google's User Messaging Platform to allow ad requests before loading ads.

Where required, a consent message appears. When available, Settings contains Ad privacy choices, which reopens Google's privacy options. Your Android settings also offer advertising-ID controls. Buying Remove Ads or an eligible Pro product removes the app's ad placements; other network features remain available.

Purchases

Google Play handles payments and subscriptions. LandMate uses purchase status and product information to enable purchased features, restore ownership, and acknowledge purchases. Permanent ownership is cached locally; subscription status is refreshed through Google Play. LandMate does not receive your payment-card details. Manage subscriptions in Google Play.

Backup, retention, and deletion

Android backup and device transfer may include app preferences, the saved-data database, and plan files, depending on your Android version and backup settings. Older Android backup rules may include additional eligible app files. Backups are managed by Android and your selected backup provider; they may restore data after reinstallation or transfer to another device.

Delete saved items in the app. Uninstalling removes app-private data on that device, but does not remove exported/shared copies or backups held elsewhere. Manage those copies and backups through their destination or provider. Cached terrain can be cleared in Settings.

A rotating crash log is stored locally and is not automatically sent to BMGIS. If you voluntarily send logs, files, or support messages, we use the information you provide to respond. Do not send sensitive field data unless needed for your request. Contact us for assistance with information you have sent to us.

Service providers

LandMate does not require a LandMate account. It does not include a separate third-party crash-reporting SDK. Advertising SDK measurement is described above.

Children and changes

LandMate is not directed at children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information to us. We may update this policy as app behavior changes; the date above identifies the latest revision.
