BMGIS Terms of Use

BMGIS is an independent field utility for surveyors. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official app of Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia (JUPEM) or the Government of Malaysia.

1. Field utility only

BMGIS helps users search benchmark references and submit community field observations. Community updates are not official JUPEM survey values and should be checked in the field.

2. Data source

Benchmark data is sourced from Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan Malaysia (JUPEM) Open Data, used under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY). JUPEM source benchmark data is kept separate from community-submitted updates.

3. User-generated content

Users may submit BM photos, coordinates, comments, condition reports, votes, and content reports. Submitted BM updates may become publicly visible in the app.

Users must accept these Terms of Use before creating an account or uploading community BM observations, photos, coordinates, or comments.

4. Prohibited content

Users must not upload or submit content that includes:

Sexual content, nudity, or sexually suggestive material.
Child-safety violations or content involving exploitation or abuse of minors.
Harassment, hate, threats, abusive content, or personal attacks.
Spam, irrelevant uploads, misleading observations, or deliberately wrong coordinates.
Photos or comments that violate another person’s privacy or rights.

5. Reporting and blocking

Users can report objectionable community content from inside the app, including wrong locations, wrong photos, sexual or inappropriate content, spam, and abuse. Users can also block other users from the community update view to hide that user’s content locally.

6. Moderation

Reported content may be reviewed and acted on. BMGIS may remove or restrict content, accounts, or submissions that violate these terms or create safety, privacy, or integrity risks.

7. Minors

BMGIS is intended as a field utility for surveyors and is not directed to children. Sexual content and child-safety violations are prohibited and should be reported immediately.
